Mulch installation in Lockport, IL
Fresh mulch in your beds and tree rings, with weeding and crisp edges, starting at $120 per yard.
How a mulch job goes
- Clean up: pull weeds and clear leaves and debris from the beds
- Edge: cut a clean edge between the lawn and the beds
- Spread: lay fresh mulch evenly, kept back from the house and tree trunks

Fresh mulch holds moisture during dry Illinois summers, keeps weeds down, and makes a front yard look finished. Most beds need a refresh every year or two.

Questions
How much is mulch installation per yard?
DJ's Outdoor mulch installation starts at $120 per yard. The final price depends on how many yards your beds need and how much cleanup they need first. The estimate is free.
How many yards of mulch do I need?
One cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep, or about 160 square feet at 2 inches. Measure your beds' length and width, or let Dylan measure them during the free estimate.
Mulch or rock: which is better?
Mulch looks natural, feeds the soil as it breaks down and is cheaper up front, but it needs a refresh every year or two. Rock costs more at first but lasts for years. Many homeowners use mulch in planting beds and rock along foundations and drainage areas.
Should old mulch be removed first?
Not always. If the old layer is thin, fresh mulch can go right on top after weeding and edging. If it's built up deep against the house or plants, some should come out first.
